Deliberate Construction of IrO₂-PdO Heterointerfaces via Sequential Photodeposition for Selective and Durable Chloride Oxidation
A sequential photodeposition strategy was developed to construct IrO₂-PdO heterointerfaces on Co₃O₄ nanocubes for selective chloride oxidation. The resulting catalyst achieved nearly 100% HOCl production efficiency in neutral NaCl electrolyte by suppressing the competing oxygen evolution reaction. Experimental and theoretical analyses revealed that the IrO₂-PdO heterointerface enhances chloride oxidation activity and durability by optimizing Cl* adsorption and stabilizing the catalytic structure. These findings suggest a practical catalyst design strategy for seawater-relevant chloride oxidation and continuous disinfectant production.
